So, you want to be a CSI.
Do you have friends or family in law enforcement? Did you ever hear, “It’s not like it is on television”? Imagine being able to experience what it is like to be a Crime Scene Investigator in real life. The CSI Academy at the University of New Haven is like stepping into the real world of crime scene investigation and getting hands-on experience with the techniques seen in TV and movies, but taught the real-life way!
The CSI Academy offers hands-on experiences, discussions, and laboratory activities. While at the Academy, you will:
- Learn about the history of policing, investigations, & Constitutional law
- Write a Search Warrant
- Process evidence for fingerprints
- Cast footwear impressions
- Investigate and document a crime scene
- Collect and package evidence
- Present your findings to a panel of real investigators
Requirements
- Students should have a strong interest in criminal justice, investigations, and/or forensic science.
- Students must be entering 10-12th grade for the 2025-26 academic year.
- Participants will need long pants and closed-toe shoes for some lab components of this program.
